The third stage runs 175.1 kilometres from Latsch/Laces in Südtirol/Alto Adige to Arco in Trentino, starting on the lower Vinschgau/Val Venosta valley floor. After 26 flat kilometres, the profile changes at Lana with the long first-category climb to Hofmahdjoch/Passo Castrin (22.2 km at 5.7%), the highest point of this edition at 1,586 metres and the natural border between Südtirol/Alto Adige and Trentino.

After descending into the Val di Non, the route reaches the base of the Andalo climb, a second-category KOM (14.4 km at 5.4%). Both the ascent and ensuing descent are steady, leading to the intermediate sprint in Ponte Arche. From there, the road rises again to Passo del Ballino before dropping to Lake Tenno, where the riders enter a circuit: first the descent via Pranzo, then the return climb to the lake with a passage through Ville del Monte featuring time-bonus seconds.

Once the loop is completed, about 15 kilometres remain. The peloton heads into Garda Trentino, passes through the centre of Riva del Garda, and covers the final kilometres to the finish in Arco.
