FC Südtirol and the Tour of the Alps are collaborating once again to promote sport and sustainable mobility, and raise awareness of road safety. Two years after their first successful initiative, the Italian Serie B club and the professional cycling stage race are reuniting ahead of the 2026 edition (20–24 April), which will conclude in Bozen/Bolzano, just a few hundred metres from the Druso Stadium.
In the South Tyrolean capital, one of Italy's leading cities in terms of cycling infrastructure and bicycle usage, FC Südtirol and the Tour of the Alps are behind a series of co-marketing initiatives. Chief among these is the return of Bike Day, which was a great success two seasons ago.
On Saturday, April 11, during the Italian Serie B match between FC Südtirol and Modena (kick-off at 3 pm), fans will be encouraged to travel to the stadium by bicycle. Arriving cyclists will find from a supervised bike parking area on the Lido side, adjacent to the stadium walls, as well as a voucher for a complimentary soft drink inside the stadium and a discount coupon for tickets to the next home match. There will also be a skill mini-park offering participants the chance to test and improve their cycling abilities.
Bike Day will also offer a preview of Safe2Ride, a new Tour of the Alps project for schools and cycling clubs. The project aims to promote safe and responsible cycling among children and young people. With the support of instructors from the Bozen/Bolzano Committee of the Italian Cycling Federation, participants will learn how to ride safely and gain practical knowledge and skills for a safer, more confident experience on two wheels.
Bike Day is organized by FC Südtirol and the Tour of the Alps, in collaboration with the Bozen/Bolzano Committee of the Italian Cycling Federation, and is held under the patronage of the Municipality of Bozen/Bolzano.
"On behalf of the Municipality of Bozen/Bolzano, we would like to thank FC Südtirol and the Tour of the Alps for organising Bike Day, which was a great success two years ago. Cycling is a vital part of our vision for a sustainable city offering a high quality of life,” said Johanna Ramoser, Councillor for Mobility, Equal Opportunities, Education and Leisure at the Municipality of Bozen/Bolzano.
The Tour of the Alps will return the favour during the final stage, which starts in Trento and finishes in Bozen/Bolzano on Friday, April 24. At the Gerichtsplatz/Piazza del Tribunale, a delegation from FC Südtirol will be on hand with activities for children, along with an invitation to supporters to attend the following day’s Serie B clash at the Druso Stadium, where the South Tyrolean side will face Mantova.
"Following the success of Bike Day two years ago, we are honoured to renew our collaboration with such a prestigious partner as the Tour of the Alps. As a professional sports club, FC Südtirol has always been committed to promoting physical as a cornerstone of well-being. Moreover, this initiative makes a tangible contribution to sustainable mobility. Many spectators already cycle to the Druso Stadium as a matter of course, and we hope that many more will soon do the same. We would also like to express our gratitude to the Municipality of Bozen/Bolzano for their valuable support, and for their ongoing commitment to collaborating with us on new initiatives”, said Hannes Fischnaller, Chief Operating Officer of FC Südtirol.
"Initiatives and collaborations like this confirm that the Tour of the Alps is much more than just a sporting event. It is a true vehicle for the values outlined in our 2016 Euro-Regional Memorandum, the tenth anniversary of which we are celebrating. Since the first edition of the new euro-regional format, we have sought to convey messages that transcend sport itself, promoting a shared vision of mobility, physical activity and lifestyle, a vision that is now further enriched by the theme of road safety. We are proud and fortunate to have partners like FC Südtirol who share our vision of sport and its social impact", concluded Maurizio Evangelista, General Manager of the Tour of the Alps.
