Tour of the Alps to raise glasses of Cembra Valley “Vertical Wines”

A "Made in Trentino" fine wine selection will be featured on the podiums of the Tour of the Alps (April 15-19) for the second consecutive edition

Cembra Valley is one of the most evocative areas in the entire Trentino. Besides being the cradle of great sportsmen, it also is a land of fine wines with mountain scent and soul. For the second year in a row, Cembra Valley will be in the spotlight on the roads, and even more in the awarding ceremonies, of the 2024 Tour of the Alps, crossing the landscapes of the Euregio Trentino, Südtirol/Alto Adige and Tirol

Official Wine Partner” of this year’s #TotA, Cembra Valley boasts a unique setting made up of centuries-old wooded areas and vineyards laid on wonderful vertical terraces kissed by the sun and rooted on porphyry soil.

Indeed, the soil quality combined with the day-night temperature range typical of mountain areas, enhances the aromas and fragrance of the grapes.

The premium labels of Val di Cembra include white wines such as Müller Thurgau, Chardonnay - the foundation for TrentoDOC - but also Gewürztraminer, Riesling, Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris. On the other hand, for the lovers of red wines, the Cembra Valley offers the elegant Pinot Noir, the intense Lagrein and fresh Schiava, which used to be the most popular variety in this land.

The wines on the Tour of the Alps podium and in all the official moments and ceremonies will be offered by five Cembra valley wineries: Cantina Zanotelli, Cembra Cantina di Montagna, Cantina Micheli, Villa Corniole and Corvée.

“That of Cembra Valley is the classic example of ‘heroic viticulture’. The hard work and the high altitudes connect us to cycling and the Tour of the Alps, the main event of our territory, which have the mountains in their DNA. Teamwork is a key component for success both in cycling and in managing heroic viticulture in the valley, on terraces and slopes up to 80% gradient, and in the transition from grape to bottle. That’s why we are proud of this partnership and to support cycling champions in the moment when the effort turns into joy”, said Vera Rossi, President of the Val di Cembra Tourist Association.
