Südtirol looks forward to a standout Tour of the Alps

For the first time, Südtirol will host the start of the Euregio’s stage race from April 20th to 24th, whose 20-team list was officially announced in Brixen/Bressanone

After last years’ final stage in Bolzano, Südtirol and Brixen/Bressanone will host the big start of Tour of the Alps, whose 2020 edition will be held from April 20th to 24th. Brixen/Bressanone staged an official press conference on Thursday, January 30th, at the Adrian Egger hall, where organizing company GS Alto Garda disclosed the prestigious list of twenty teams to take the start of the UCI Pro Series event.

It will be the beautiful Piazza Duomo to give the first welcome to the peloton of the Euroregional race: on Sunday, April 19th it will be time for the preliminary operations, favorites’ press conference and teams’ presentation, while on Monday, April 20th the race will start with stage 1. Südtirol will host the starting venue of the race for the first time since the inception of the Tour of the Alps.

A valuable opportunity to display the beautiful landscapes of Südtirol, to be broadcast on television in every corner of the world thanks to the Tour of the Alps. There will be three stages in Südtirol: on Monday April 20th the first stage will start from Brixen/Bressanone, to end up in Innsbruck after passing over the Brenner Pass/Passo del Brennero. On Wednesday April 22nd the third stage ends in Naturns/Naturno, after the start in Imst, Tyrol, and the ascent to the Reisenpass/Passo Resia and the raw and tiny roads through the Vintschgau Valley/Val Venosta. Finally, on Thursday 23rd April, the fourth stage will start from Naturns/Naturno, and rise atop the Castrin Pass, the highest point of the 2020 edition with 1706m, to reach Trentino and the finish line of Valle del Chiese/Pieve di Bono.

For Brixen/Bressanone this is a special year for cycling: after the Tour of the Alps, the city will also host the 10th Mountain Bike Testival, from September 17th to 20th, welcoming 60 cycling brands to present their 2021 collections with free testing offered to the public.
