LIVE from Stage 2

The riders are taking in a shortened effort due to snow in the 2nd fraction of the race. The route was reduced to 140,5 km from Vipiteno to Innervillgraten

We have 44 km to go, and the advantage is stable – now 1.37.

At the intermediate sprint in Sillian, 1) Ackermann; 2) Gamper 3) Salvietti

Hello from Innervillgraten!

The 2nd stage of the Tour of the Alps was forced to change programmes from the original Innsbruck – Innervillgraten of 181 km: snow in the Innsbruck surroundings forced the race to avoid the Brenner pass, so the stage has started in Vipiteno, leaving 140 km for the riders effort.

The race took off at 12.00, and it was immediately at a high pace. The peloton stayed together until km 24, when 4 riders – Pascal Ackermann (Bora-hansgrohe), Simone Velasco (Bardiani-CSF), Niccolò Salvietti (Sangemini-MG kVis) and Patrick Gamper (Tirol) – got clear. The top advantage of the four was reached at km 42, 2.16 on the bunch.

The peloton has reacted under the push by Gazprom-Rusvelo, and at Km 74 there is now 1.34 between the peloton and the escapees.
